Abstract |
The present invention relates to an improved process for the manufacture of activated charcoal using the waste carbonaceous material from agro industry especially the sugar industry using cane as the starting material and its dependant alcohol industry. Sugar cane bagasse has been subjected to a rapid continuous pyrolysis process to recover phenol and charcoal however none of the prior art reports have attempted to prepare a good quality active charcoal having the .requisite physical and chemical properties so as to be utilized as adsorbent of biorefractory COD. The process of the present invention provides activated charcoal with high Iodine and Methylene blue values |
