Abstract |
A process for the production of thermotroptc liquid
stalline elastomers which comprises reacting di«ethyl t«rephthalate
and poly alkylene glycol in1 1 mole ratio at a
temperature in the range of 190 to 215 C under inert ataosphere
with stirring for two to three hours using conventional transesterification
catalyst r .c i tg .he nethanol formed by condensation
continuing the reaction from 215 to 240 C under 0.05
torr for one to two hour to form the prepolymer reacting the
prepolymer with 0.5 to 1.5 mote percent of terephthallc acid
and hydroquinone diacetate 1i1 mole ratio at a temperature
in the range of 230 to 250 C under inert atmosphere with stirring
using transesterlfication catalyst removing the acetic acid
formed as a condensate continuing the reaction at 240 to 255 C
under 0.05 torr for one to two hour washing the resulting
polymejr with 5 weight aqueous sodiu» bicarbonate followed
with wgtfer and hot nethanol and drying at a temperature
of 1oo°C. f ••• • • •
