| Abstract |
A process for the preparation of branched poly arylcarbonate s by subjecting a linear crystallised polycarbonate oligomer prepared by the reaction of dihydroxydiaryl compound with diaryl carbonate to solid state polycondensation process by heating the said oligomer at a temperature in the range of 180 o to 220 C in the presence of 0.1 to 2 wt multifunctional phenol of total monomer and an alkali or alkaline metal salt bisphenol or tetraalkylammonium hydroxide carboxylate or bicarboxylate of the kind as herein described as catalyst said polycondensation being effected in an inert atmosphere for a period of 2 to 10 hours to obtain branched polycarbonates. |
